Letter from the President of the Board of Directors Sunday, March 21, 2010Greetings from the new President:
I hope everyone is starting to get busy with the spring season. I think we will face some extreme challenges in the coming year but know we will be stronger because of it. We just had the 2010 Convention in Casper and I have many people and sponsors to thank for their participation, starting with Bob and Mary Gaukel for their tireless effort to help us keep moving forward as an organization. We had the opportunity to introduce Tina Silva as CAW`s new executive director where she rose to the challenge of helping to organize the Convention. Our sponsors include Parkway Plaza Hotel, Holcim (US) Inc., GCC of America Mountain Cement Company and BASF Corp. Our Panel Speakers were Steve Loftin – 71 Construction, Lowell Fleenor, P.E. – WYDOT District Engineer, Jeff Johnson, P.E. – S & S Builders, Bernard “Buzz” Shafer – Terracon Consultants, Inc. and Lewis James, P.E. – JKC & Associates. Thanks to Brian Marchant, our past President, for leading our organization through a difficult year and also to Chuck Mock for his service as a CAW Board Member. We have two new committees this year and they are off to a fast start with the addition of the following members:
Technical Committee Promotional Committee Deryl Woirhaye Michael Long Don Stanger Don Clem Harry Kessner James Gregory Jamie Johnson Jamie Johnson Randy Newman – Board Liaison
This will be an exciting year for CAW with our goals to promote our industry and concrete in Wyoming. I want to remind everybody that we are here to help with programs like Driver Training Rollover Prevention, Concrete Finishing, and White Topping, to name a few. Contact Tina with your requests and she will pass it along.
I am looking forward to this year and am anticipating a safe and successful season for all. We will continue our work with WYDOT, WES, T/2, UW, WSPE and other local entities in our promotional efforts. We will work to keep the Crow {CAW} flying for the betterment of our industry.
